SOAR ADVENTURE TOWER COMING TO FRANKLIN

A ropes adventure park under construction on Carothers Parkway will be the first of its kind in North America, the owner said.

Kevin Vanderkolk said before deciding to open SOAR Adventure he initially toyed with the idea of a trampoline park but saw the vertical ropes course at a trade show. Nine similar parks are in Europe, he said.

The 50-foot tower is suitable for all ages, he said, and offers 110 climbing elements, such as guitars, drums and bridges.

What makes the climbing course different, Vanderkolk said, is that climbers can go as high as they wish, create their own path and descend at any time.

The $3 million project will open sometime between mid-August and early September, said Vanderkolk, who spent 15 years as a professional mascot for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks and NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.

Construction is underway on the parking lot and ticket booth, but installation of the tower won’t happen until late June. Work will take about a month to complete, he said.

Capacity would allow 140 users on the structure at any given time, Vanderkolk said, but the maximum probably would be around 100.
